Properly chosen screen size will ensure the comfortable viewing of movies, TV shows. That is, your eyes won’t get tired, and the picture quality and effect will be optimal for viewing. In fact, it’s not so easy to buy a TV set with the right diagonal. When choosing, you need to proceed from several criteria: the distance from the screen to the viewing position, the resolution and a few other points.

Calculating the right diagonal with regard to distance

One of the most important factors, when choosing a diagonal, is the distance at which you plan to view the TV. Therefore, before going to the store for a brand new TV, you first need to decide in what room and in what specific place it will be located. After all, a huge 85-inch TV panel, not only that it might not fit in a small room, it will not bring any pleasure, and your eyes will have to run all over the screen to catch every moment. In the opposite case, a small TV in a huge room will not allow a good look at anything. From this follows a simple principle for choosing the diagonal: the greater the distance to the TV, the bigger it should be, and vice versa – the smaller the distance, the smaller it is. It should be taken into account that the diagonal should cover 30-40% of the field of view.

Consider the resolution when choosing the diagonal

But, as written above, when choosing the optimal size TV, you need to take into account its resolution as well. This indicator indicates the number of dots (pixels) of the screen. That is, the more pixels, the more detailed the picture. From this it follows that a TV with high resolution, you can watch at a small distance, and vice versa. For example, Ultra HD 4K models provide a sharper picture than HD or Full HD, and even at close range there will be no graining or blurring. But keep in mind that TV panels with the same diagonal may have a different number of pixels per inch, and the pixels themselves in some models may be large, which leads to a greater distance between the person and the screen.
